Time to assess what else you need to do to get into college!

Time to assess what else you need to do to get into college!

You took the SAT already, but did you take it more than once? Colleges generally only count the highest score of each of the three sections  (Reading or Verbal, Math and Writing) when reviewing you academic records for admission. Most, including Kean University,  still only review the Reading (Verbal) and Math scores for admission purposes.  If you send only one set of scores, does that demonstrate your best as a student?

It is suggested that students  take the SAT certainly more than once, if not more, with preparation done in between each testing date to help you raise your scores. Make sure you request from the College Board that the test results with your best scores from each of the three sections are sent to the colleges to which you are applying.

It is also suggested that students take the ACT in addition to the SAT. The ACT is another standardized test that is used more widely on the west coast of the United States than on the east coast , even though most, if not all, colleges across the country will accept the ACT instead of the SAT. You may find that your composite ACT test score result (equivalent to a combined SAT  Reading and Math score) is better than your SAT scores.

There is still time for you to take either or both the SAT and ACT again if you are applying for the Kean University EEO/EOF Program! You can register February 7th for the March 8th SAT test at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register.The registration deadline for the ACT is March 7th for the April 12  test date. Register to take the ACT here http://www.actstudent.org/regist/.
